Anusara yoga has a unique practice method and a unique teaching methodology, most of which are covered in the other required modules of our 300-Hour Teacher Training. This module reviews the key skills in teaching Anusara Yoga and provides a forum to contemplate how we intend to move forward in our teaching. The module has 3 main elements:
- Review key teaching skills and add others: we will focus on the complex process of postural demonstrations as done in the Anusara style, which will include reviewing such skills as teaching with the Universal Principles of Alignment and teaching with a Heart Theme.
- Co-mentoring skills: this is a process for working with other students to support each other in expanding our teaching of Anusara yoga. During the 4 weekend sessions, we will learn and practice the communication skills involved when observing another teacher’s class, offering suggestions about their teaching, and gracefully receiving feedback about our own teaching. This starts with Attitude, like everything does in Anusara yoga.
- Twelve non-contact hours (“non-contact” means hours without Jayendra present), when you will meet with one or more other students to “co-mentor” each other with your teaching process. Specifically, you create a class plan, discuss it with a partner, teach the class, your partner sees the recording and fills out the Anusara assessment form, and then you meet to talk about it. This is the process we follow when we apply for the Certified Anusara Teacher license.
Students say that this is one of their favorite things about the entire 300-Hour Anusara Teacher Training – the community experience created through the co-mentoring process.

All over the world, students are practicing Anusara yoga with their local teachers or online. Then over time, many of them decide they want to go deeper in their practice. That’s what the 100-Hour Anusara Immersion is for. The Immersion is a brilliant opportunity to develop your practice and understanding, and through that, have a profound experience of the goal of yoga – the experience of the Consciousness/Bliss that is who we are, and that is the essence of everything. The Immersion provides a broad foundation for living a life of yoga, and it prepares us for a possible next step – to learn how to teach Anusara yoga. A 100-Hour Anusara Teacher Training will follow the Immersion, and the two comprise a 200-Hour program.
